There are many old buildings which protected by law because these are part of a nation’s history. But, some individuals believe that these places should be replaced by new buildings which supported with a new construction technology. In my opinion, old buildings should not be replaced unless it is necessary in terms of protecting the building and it must resist in the way of progress.
Old buildings are important due to their function for preserving a history. Most tourists visit foreign countries just to revive history. Some historians describe this touristic process as adding graphics to history books. The cultural memory of a nation all preserved in the museums. In addition, these buildings allow people to develop a sense of cultural belonging.
It is unfortunate to see some of the examples of renovations and the changes which cause buildings to lose their soul. Moreover, renovations should be carefully made with the supervision of historians and architectures. In Turkey, in some cases, all the historical buildings have changed and the buildings have turned into something else due to sloppy research and limited budget. In fact, the money which spent on culture actually disliked by tourists.
On the other hand, historical places such as mosque and church should be supported with a new technology. New mobile applications should be made to introduce the culture and help tourists who interested in to discover it.
In conclusion, I believe that demolishing the historical places to build a new and better one is not very beneficial in terms of attracting individuals who want to revive history.
