The pie charts illustrate the electricity generated in Germany and France from all sources and renewables in 2009.
Overall, in Germany, conventional thermal energy which was part of all types accounted for the greatest proportion (exactly 59.6 %) while in France, the rate of nuclear explained the greatest proportion (just 76%). Hydroelectric energy accounted for more than half renewable Energy in France, on the contrary, in Germany, hydroelectric energy explained only 17.7 %.
In Germany and France, the percentage of renewables was similar (almost 17 % and approximately 14 % respectively). Therefore, the rate of Germany’s Nuclear (23 %) was more than 3 times higher than in France (76 %).
Germany’s biomass energy rate (39.3 %) was more than 4 times higher than in France. In addition, solar energy rate of Germany explained almost 6 % while in France the use of solar energy was relatively new and only explained 0.9 %.
It is clear that the proportion of nuclear and the proportion of hydroelectric accounted for more than half sources in France. In Germany, both renewable and all types of energy sources diversified more than in France.
